Northern Ontario, Canada
Ok, so if there is already a thread on this, please forgive me and also point me in that direction.

I live in Northern Ontario, Canada in a small town and I'm setting up my new 135gal to keep some Polypterus, specifically Senegalus and Delhezi (and a couple Datnoids). My LFS is absolute garbage and even if they could get Bichirs, I would not purchase them from there.

I live in a small town roughly 2hrs north of North Bay, Ontario. As long as they can handle the stress of a long car ride, I'm willing to make a lengthy trip to get these guys. I'm able to go as far north as Timmins (2hrs each way) or down to Toronto/southern area of the province (7-9hrs depending on which city exactly).
Obviously, the shorter the drive the better. But if it is necessary to go on a long journey, I'd like to at least have an idea of where to check instead of going on a wild goose chase.

I've tried google to find an online supplier, or even a store that carries them, but I'm not finding much. I'd much prefer to see the fish in person before I buy it as well. I spoke to the manager of Big Al's in Barrie when I picked up my aquarium and he said they rarely get them in and as it stands they also have no plans to order any in the coming months. So at this particular moment I'm at a bit of a loss.

TL;DR - Where, between Timmins and Toronto Ontario, do I have a good chance of getting my hands on some Senegalus and Delhezi?

Chelzzer, I am in Calgary and even though it is a large city there is not much for Bichir availability.

I highly recommend you keep an eye on Spencer Jacks Affishionados web site ( Cichlaholic.com) he gets a variety of bichirs from time to time. Currently he has CB PBB's, CB congicus and CB Endlicheri. His prices are reasonable and fish are high quality ( check out my thread on the endi and congicus I got from him)
He is based out of Winnepeg and ships to most cdn cities including Timmons.

I have looked into ordering fish online out of the US including Toyin from Rehoboth. I have been told it is both a hassle and not cost effective as the fish are subject to a department of agriculture inspection and charge of up to $200 on top of the fish and shipping.

Other than that do what I do, never pass by a LFS anywhere you go and hope for an occasional surprise ( check out my Score thread)

Good luck and share with us when you pull the trigger. Those CB PBB he has are intriguing

I've had great experiences with Canadian Aquatics from BC when ordering wc dwarf Channa sp. Air freight packaging and livestock were excellent.

Also, I've received excellent feedback from several sources on Spencer Jack's in Winnipeg. Good deals on shipping from these guys as well.

Neither have polys on their current stocklist, though it may be as simple as a phone call to change that :)

X 2 on the above

Canadian aquatics used to be a great place to order bichirs, unfortunately when Kole left years back Charles no longer brings them in. I had a Congicus, lap and my big weeksii all come from them.

Awesome. Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'll keep an eye on those websites and maybe fire off a couple emails. I knew Bichirs are a little more obscure than goldfish or neon tetras, lol, but I was not anticipating them being THIS hard to find. Definitely threw a fork in my plans. At least this gives me plenty of time to finish up my stand and have the aquarium cycled and stable lol

I was told elsewhere online that Dragon Aquarium in Mississauga usually has a couple in stock so I might give them a call and see what they have to say.
