I am buying the filters need to run the 240G tank I'm planning on buying.
I'm currently run a sump with a trickle on my 55 Gallon, with good success. I have been reading about Fluidized filter beds, and thought about making one out of a 15 or 20 G aquarium. Do you experts think a FFB is better than a WD for Bacterial filter, I don't care about mechanical filtration as I'll be running a Canister for that.
I was thinking since sand has such high surface area a FFB 5G of sand would be about the same as 14gallons of BioBalls. I say 14 Gallons of BioBalls, as I like to over filter, and I see most wet/dry for 400 gallon aquariums have about 2 cubic feet of BioBalls.

So whats every one thing about FFB. Are they any good, can I use just a FFB, or should I use both FFB and W/D; or say forget FFB.

No one else has a view on this?

From what I have found when I was looking for info, they are very temperamental and not worth the trouble.

Ok wet dry it is. Just wanted to get a feel for what others thought.
