I'm planning a future tank to go in my man cave in the basement. I'm thinking of at least a 180, more likely an 8' 240.
I know for sure I want to stock Oscars (not sure of quantity, or maybe just one) and a group of silver dollars. From there I'm considering a group of earth eaters, severums, and maybe a chocolate.
I've purchased fish before online and have no problem doing that but my local Pet Smart always seem to have a good supply of healthy oscars and silvers. Would anyone have reservations purchasing long term fish like this from a big box store?

Many lfs use the same suppliers as petsmart so the fish quality won't be poor. The only thing is petsmart tends to have sick fish meaning their system has ich and runs through most of their tanks. I would qurantine them if I were to buy them for 6 weeks. I usually do this for every fish I just get in.

I recently went inside my local petsmart they had some very nice oscars in and was tempted to get one but I have some juvenile fish and oscars have big mouths lol

My sens came from pet smart and are all healthy. My jack dempsey came from there and lived almost 10 years. just check out the tanks before purchase if yours is one of the questionable ones. ( mine is not its very well kept) and quarentine if your ancy about it.
