I'm taking a trip to Wild Rose Fish Hatchery obviously in Wild Rose, WI, and was curious if it was possible to buy a small amount of native fish from them, if possible? They have some great looking Natives there. :D
Just thought I'd ask, as I've never done this before... anyone have any ideas?

You can usually buy single fish for pretty cheap, depending on the hatchery. But don't count on being able to buy fish like musky, pike, trout or sturgeon.

Thanks for the info, and there goes the whole list they have, lol, other than Minnow and Suckers... Guess I'll just have to wait and see.
I'll try to take a few pics while I'm there.
Another question; I don't suppose that there is a spot to just walk into and buy a fish, but I may have to ask an employee about what they would sell for an aquarium? Sorry for the "noob" questions if they are, lol, I've never been to a hatchery before.
Anyone ever bought fish from a Hatchery?

I worked at a hatchery for a couple years and we handle any size order from a single tadpole or crayfish for an aquarium to 10,000 bluegill for a big pond or lake. They don't usually have anything out of the ordinary. They do have 10 white sturgeon that they are hoping to spawn (still a little young) and are also currently holding I think about 9 lake sturgeon for the state, but none are for sale currently.

The hatchery has a retail store for garden pond supplies, trout fillets and other products, and for making orders for livestock. The livestock orders are then picked up at the barn.

Thanks for the info. Went today, no luck, but did take some photos. ;)

They had Trout, Sturgeon, Northern, and Muske. We were only allowed to see the Trout section, the rest was blocked off due to the risk of spreading VHS. Talked to the only person that appeared to be around, and they told me that they would only sell them for stocking. Not for aquarium use.

wow that kind of stinks, nice pics though!
Yeah, I was hoping that it would of been a bit more, but it was alright. Did drive for an hour and a half though, lol, only part that really sucked. Got to see 1/4 of the whole area... maybe 1/2... stupid VHS. :grinno:
