Buying used filters

I found some guy selling a fluval 304 and a smaller hob, he says they have lots of replacement parts and both work fine. offered him $20 and he said okay. So is it worth buying used filters? the fluval 304 is a $180 filter so I think it is a bargain.

run them in a sink or on a tank . if they work ,buy them .

fluval 304 is not a $180 filter.... the "X04" series is really old. They have the "X06" series out now.

oh really I remembered seeing some thing similar to it in the pet store.....but I just went to the website and it was a 305 so you correct
