I picked up 2 C. johanna about a week ago. They are alone in a 55 grow out tank. One is about 3", and the other about 3.5".

At what size/age will they start to change into the adult color pattern?

Any other advise or comments about my new aquisition is more than welcome!

Thanks :)

I noticed my Cr. johanna changed colors at around 5" or so. It didn't take him long to get there either. The reds around his gills and fins really started to pop at that point. Got any pics of yours?

The color change will start around the 5 to 7" range, and should be pretty much complete by the time the fish is 10 to 12". Some fish take longer to mature and go through their color changes though, so just be patient. Best of luck!! Might want to add some dithers in there incase there starts to be some aggression as they age. ;)

Mine is 7'' and just showing signs of color change, esp when its feeding or pissed off at a bellycrawler it shares a 60g with.

Thanks everybody for the replies!
