Well...looks like we had a great discussion over the differences between C. Chitala and C. Ornata. So on to a new one:D How can you tell the difference between C. Lopis and Spotless CKs? Here are some pics I got off the internets...are they C. Lopis or C. Ornata?

I still can't figure out the difference between GK and Spotless CK. Maybe the Spotless CK is a lot more darker than the GK, just my guest. Only way to tell is the size difference or getting one in the wild or cut open the fish for DNA test.

1&2 is spotless CK
3 is Chitala lopis
4 Hand of this man cloesd the area that can tell it is Chitala lopis or not.

But at this size in nature it is chitala lopis 99%.

Please let us know on what made you deduce the signs to tell them apart?

Yes I do agree. We need some key point on what make them so different form each other not just guest it.

I can't even tell them apart to each other.:)

My english is not good but I will try to explain.
All of chitala lopis & RCK - The skin area at base of swimming fin (near it cheeks) must have black color, at this point CK haven't. Your compare with your RCK and CK.
At this trick, CK lover can seperated chitala lopis from spottless CK at LFS.
In fishijn web. When chitala lopis just caught, normally it have silver olor (pic 3). In aquarium most of chitala lopis adapted it color to black (pic 4,dark black or black with shiny green).
I keep 5 chitala lopis (25", 16", 10-12", all wild caught) and 1 spottless CK (breeding)
If u visit BKK I can give u one.
