I'm trying to ID some of the fish that came in for the new project listed as "misc cichlids". I've got a batch that look similar in body/color to nics, but some of them have unusal patterns to them and some have a slight red/orange color on the forward belly. Some of them have more concentrated dark patches toward the tail, while others show the typical dark lateral line marking. I'll try to get some pics ASAP.

I guess my question is does that species have that much range in visual apprearence?? Or am I looking at a different species all together? Right now they are fairly small (4" give or take).

Thanks.

not to nit pick but the name for the nic i hyphosrys nicaraguensis sorry just needed to say that and nics can sometimes....have different patterns pics would be the best they may be some type of geo or smiling acara

Sorry, the book I have said Copora nicaraguense. Good to be updated.
All the pics I took turned out like crap. The lighting is poor at best, and the tank has so many other fish in it, that it's hard to single one out. The more I look at them, might also be something from the Amphilophus genus maybe??? I'll keep trying to get good pics.

Send the pics to me in a PM and I will clean them up for you. Or you can post them and I will repost the cleaned pics under you. I have some really good tools for fixing the pic. Just try to have them in focus and I should be able to do the rest.
