Ok, I left this big in hopes someone could identify sex this time. It's a Cherax peknyi, bought as a male but looks like female to me. Someone said Cherax sp are sexed different. Can anyone help me?
(I just got him 2 wks ago, I know he's got shell rot and other problems, I'm babying him)

I can't really tell if it has the gonopods, but I don't see the egg spots on the third legs (which are usually very hard to miss if present), so I'd guess that's a male and not a female.

Black Sun, thank you :-) You're the only one who took the time to answer & I do appreciate that. I suspect no one else could really tell either. The 2 get along real well and choose to sleep together even though there's lots of other places they could hide at. I didn't realize crays could be that way. I'm getting pretty attached to them since they were/are in such tough shape.

I have two that are like that, too. ^_^

How are they doing so far? Are they adjusting to their new home nicely? I can't wait to see them once you have them back to 100%, such a beautiful species.

Your 2 just hang out together like that? Are they male-female? Man, they're pretty, what are they? These 2 seem to be hanging in there. It's been 2 wks and they haven't moulted yet and don't eat like little cray-pigs like my other crays.....I'm hoping they'll be ok. They remind me of a sweet old couple (and they're just babies) because they're always curled around each other sleeping lol
I'm wanting 1 or 2 Orconectes Durelli real bad, too. I love the colors.

That is a hard one to tell... I think Black_Sun is right.

Well that'd be nice. I got them as a male & female but the guy didn't know a whole lot about crayfish & they both looked female to me. But I'm just learning myself. As long as they get along in the same tank it's all good.

Maybe more pictures could help. More under tail and more of just both crayfish.

I took some 2 wks ago when I got them also and no one could tell then either. I figured they'd have moulted by now but they haven't. Hopefully they'll moult soon and get rid of the shell rot and I'll take pictures then. You'll probably be able to tell better then. I just love these 2 tiny crays, I'm worried about them.

Yep, well, they did. Sapphire, the female on top passed away. But Nippy, the male on the bottom, still occasionally snuggles up with one of his new girlfriends. I'm not sure why... he's an evil, evil crayfish and they're Procambarus alleni which are generally known for their aggressiveness. *shrugs* Whatever, I'm not knocking it, it's cute when they find a hide someplace and cuddle up. ^_^

Anyway, they're probably still settling in and adjusting. I'm sure they'll be up and going soon enough. Tearing apart the tank together and causing havoc lol

Oh, did you see the ones on Aquabid? Man, I wanted to bid on those so badly but that guy has HORRIBLE feedback on his site and what not. It's driving me nuts, I want to bid but I've heard so many horror stories about him.
