I have believed that my big boy is a C saxitilus. I had a response on another site questioning this.
Your thoughts please.

How big is big boy????? U should post more info on your fish for ID: Size, Sex, Age . . .
I would say NOT Sax. , possibly / . . . . ? Could be - - - looks like what Cali people call "gold-flake" . common names for pikes can be deceptive

Nice fish. To me, it looks as though is could be either a male C. frenata or male C. sp. pernambuco. How large is he? The sp. pernambuco are supposed to max @ just over 5", while the frenata are in the 8" range. Both of these fish are closely related to C. saxatilis.

Hahaha...Saxatilis group pikes aren't my thing...Lugubris all the way...although I do know enough about them to say that that is def. not a true saxatilis...

My pike is now 7 years old and a very obese 11".
When I got him, he was sold as C Sveni. As he grew I reliezed quickly that he was different than the C Sveni I had owned previously. The closest images on the net to him that I could find are labeled Saxitilus.
Currently I am treating him for HITH

Pretty sure it's not Cr. frenata. Frenata have a very distinct post orbital stripe distinctly edged in white on both the top and bottom. This is missing on Burbot's fish.

Definitely not sveni either.

What was the argument against saxatilis at the other site?

A pic of Cr. saxatilis from Kutty's site for reference:

Note the humeral area, the sub orbital stripe, operculum color. Very, very similar. Also note the size... 11" is very saxatilis like. ;)

Great photo for reference--Thank You
The comments I recieved in the past seemed to be centered on the belief that true C. saxatillis are rare in the hobby and thus mine could not possibly be C. saxatillis.
I appreciate the comments and the info.
