At what size will C. spec. kelberi begin to develop bright yellow golden spots in the upper caudal fin (cm./ inch/ weeks/ months ) or in another way is it normal for C. spec. monoculus to develop bright yellow golden spots in the upper caudal fin after 3 months and a week ????
And why are C. spec. kelberi red in pelvic/ anal/ lower caudal fin ?
Don´t have enough pic´s from the wild where i can see any red color except for the hump LOL

dont know the answers to that there are a few guys on here that would though.LIke high city rida and Boosten Audi on the kelberi .As for Monos lots of guys.

monos developr spots or "spangles" alot sooner then the kelberis do bc they grow faster and usually eat more and dif thing, i noticed on my kelberi one at 5.5-6" is just starting to spangle but my 11" is covered

not necessarily true. my kelberis grew just as fast as my monos. i've had, and seen, a few kelberi with spangling on their caudal fin at 3", maybe even less. my mono did not develop any kind of spangling until 8"+ and they all grew at the same rate. You can actually see the progression in my cichla journal.

horrible picture but this was one of my guys at 2-3"

Spangling appeared for me in this order: caudal, then dorsal, then anal fins.

That said, there are "kelberi" on here that are well past 6" with little to no spangling on their fins...it all varies. part of the cichla game!

Ohhh sweet jesus thanks alot ADO 124 my " monos " looks like your " kelbs ", how in the --- could i get my hands on " kelbs " in little Denmark ? LOL

no problem! got any pix of your monos? The thing that really differentiates monos from kelberi are the spangling on the anal fin.

No pic´s yet, and no spangling yet in anal or pelvic fin yet, just like your 3 pic´s from 30-05-09, apart from from body shape and size. LOL

true i mean i have spangles on caudal fins as well on mine and on the tail fin just none on body yet

I now have seen a lot more pic´s from the wild and spotted red color in the fins from several locations. LOL
