I was just wondering what the ups and downs of each are. Ive had both of them and enjoy both of them. I would like to know what made you want to chose sa/ca over africans or africans ove sa/ca. Also I would also like to know some cool examples of each in your minds... I just want to learn more about them. So in the future when I have an new or open tank I can know more about them stocking wise. Experiences and info are welcome. :headbang2

they are both fine fish it depends on what you like africans can be kept in bigger colonies in smaller tanks where as bigger sa/ca need a larger tank. a 60 gallon can serve a small comunity of africans id say 5 or 6 fish maybe and in order to house 5 or 6 sa/ca cichlids you would need a minimum of 240 gallon tank they are very possesive over tank space

I have always had sa/ca and loved them. They can be testy but fun to watch. I do like the idea of a 55-75 gallon tank set up with a ton of holy rock, black gravel and a huge colony of small, colorful africans. I'm thinking of doing just that if I get the 125 gallon I talked to a lady about.

I think new world = personality, old world = color
I like new world cichlids, but I have to say frontosas look amazing :P
