I have the bug again and want to start up another tank. I’m thinking about a 150g, but not sure yet. The big decision is what to keep. Initially, I thought about doing an African tank, as I have never kept Africans. Then I look at fish like the festae or flowerhorn and can’t make up my mind.

Why do you prefer one local to another?

I like both but there aren't many fish I don't like.

African's for color and SA's for size, aggression and attitude.

If you want a fish that will be personable, get big, and still look good - go CA/SA cichlids - if you want a mob of fish that all look relatively similar and do nothing but hide in caves or beg for food 24/7, get africans

I personally like CA, what they lack in color they make up with personality.

Color
1. African
2. South American
3. Central American

Personality
1. Central American
2. South American
3. African

Size
1. Central and South American
2. African

You can always count on unbiased, informative statements to really move the conversation along.

Go with a diverse Tanganyikan cichlid community, it can have different shapes, colors, and behaviors...if you want personality and size, go with big Central American cichlids
