Cacelian worm

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I remember a guy on here a while back had one. Can't remember the guys username or anything though...

They are escape artists, so whatever you keep em in make sure its well covered.

I already have escape artist in the tank and i have it completely sealed. Atleast until these fish show me that i have something else to seal. lol.

I have seen them at shows several times. try looking for them there.

When I was little my LFS just happened to have them and that's when I got mine. Mine used to escape from the tank on a regular basis and I would find it next to the tank or under my bed all dried up. It ended up choking on a rock and dying.

Just ask your LFS if they can order any with their next shipment. I am not sure, but they may be seasonal or something.

There are two types, the aquatic and the terrestrial. I have both, and much prefer the aquatic species, of which Typhlonectes natans is the most common. The terrestrial ones burrow in the substrate and you never seen them...it''s like taking care of a box or dirt. At least the aquatic guys are active,

lol, i have owned both as well and i was able to keep my cacelian (the terrestrial kind) in a 5g bucket of dirt if i wanted to. I think i had mine for 6 to 8 months and i saw it 3 or 4 times a month. I am completely looking for Typhlonectes natans. I find the other boring in comparison. Callen the LFS now.

lol, if only you could have been on the phone with me just now. My LFS has a really experienced guy who knows his stuff and he was like, this is a first, i havent heard anyone request these guys ever at my store. So funny. But it did strike up a conversation, how do you pronounce there name (Cacelian worm)?

I believe it's pronounced "see-sil-e-an". I think it's latin for blind.

Sorry to dig up a old thread i started but i have a quick question. I was planning on breeding these guys and since there most likely gonna be wild caught do you think i should try to acheive low ph? Because i would think they would come from a low ph area. Or do you think it matters?

The tank they are gonna go in is cycling now and i can start with a low ph but i need to know now before i add substrate.
