So my water here as to much calcium I dunno wtf it came form but its there and its coming from my house water sooo I need help b/c I use that water for my tanks and only one of them I ve done a water change on recently and now it has massive calcium build up where its crusting. Pretty ghey... is there anyways I can get rid of it (dont way water changes b/c the my water is whats causing it..) help pleaseeeee! I never had this problem b4.
 
either this thread did not make since or the 20hrs w/out sleep are gettin to me:confused:
 
my tank is having calcium in the water which causes a build up which causes crusting and this weird stuff on the top of the water and I kno its calcium I just need to kno how to get rid of it... like is there a way to treat it with anything?
 
hahaha redneck.. you love makin fun of huh ming... the only way i know of is frequent water changes.. and keep the water cirulating good... also keep the water level up... i dont really know how to get rid of it though... some water softener maybe.. i truly have no idea.. sorry...
 
well somehow I dont think my front is okay with it the others seem alright. but my front is horrible looking =( ahhh.

well, the point is, calcium does no harm. I doubt your city water is poisonous to fish. so messing around with chemicals to "correct" the water you might was well flush the fish down the toilet. it's an important lesson I've learned with fish keeping. don't mess with water. fish are very adaptive and you really need some f'ed up water to kill fish (especially ghey african cichlids).
