how can i add calcium perminantly to a tank without raising the pH? are there other ways besides using cruched coral, shell and cuttle bone without adding drops all the time?

idk if it really works, but i put in vacation blocks into my tanks for my algae eaters to suck on, and most of it is made of calcium sulfate. my snails are doing fine.

You have to add it in some manner, whether chemical or substrate or deco.

i just spotted a glob of eggs on one of my plants. it's got about 15 potential baby snails.

Nice. Me too, but with hundreds of baby snails instead of 15.:WHOA:

There are a few good methods. The nutrafin 7 day feeders have the highest calcium levels of all the feeders. Of course, you know about the drops. Another method is to use antlers. If you hunt yourself, or know someone that does, a deer or elk antler piece in the aquarium will provide quite a bit of calcium. I don't like the CC method due to the pH change. I personally just use seachem liquid calcium. I've got thousands of snails, and no problems.
