I got a new pair yesterday and the new pair looks very different from my old pair. First, the shape is different. The two pairs are almost similar in size. Second, the new pair has white instead of the normal pink you see in calico convicts. Third, the fins of the new pair has some black in them unlike the old pair that has clear fins only.

Heres a video of the two. The first pair youll see is the new pair. I'll go back and forth from new to old.

Calico convicts, Is a generic term.
It refers to 3 colors. So technically,
Your first pair are calico's. And your
second pair are marbled. But the terms
are interchanged quite often.
Still, Nice looking convicts.

first ones are claico in the sence they are tri coloured, and the last pair are more marbled, its all the same thing just difference in colouration.

where are you getting those?

I uust got confused cause spike said theres 3 colors. I got them from different stores. Planning to cross their fry to see what I'll get.

The first set looked white, black, and orange-ish pink to me.
The second set just looked black, and white to me.

Don't be surprised, When you breed these.
If the offspring come out like a paint chart.
So if you only re-breed the ones that look like the parents,
Your next batch should have more that resemble the parents.
This is how line breeding for traits works.
In some breeding programs this will result in a high percentage of viable offspring.
But in some breeds, The traits never stick in the gene pool.

Actually the first pair is white black and orange. The second pair is pink black and orange. I was also wondering about their shape. The two pairs look very different.

The shapes are fine, There is always a little difference in the build.
From one batch to the next, Unless they have the same parents.
And maybe the colors are just my monitor.
