Calico convict x regular convict produces what?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if the regular con is a carrier for the calico gene then 50% reg 50% calico, but more than likely it doesn't have the calico gene so all regular cons

is a pink just a leuistic, i never really thought about it.

Calico genes don't follow the simple dominant/recessive Mendelian genetics. It's co-dominance.

Unless the non-calico parent (either pink or wild type) is heterozygous (carrier of the calico gene) you're probably not going to see any calico offspring, or if you do in very small numbers. Even is the non-calico parent is a carrier you're not going to see the classic 50/50 ratio.

And yes, pink convicts are leucistic.

I always thought pink cons were xanthic considering the high amount of yellow or orange coloring in lieu of normal coloration. HRP's can be leucistic and I've noticed leucism to be a white coloration with blue or black eyes.
What's the difference between leucistic and xanthic?
Teach me! :D
