I'm currently in the process of planning a stand for my 240Gal tank that i'm setting up and was thinking that in the middle section i could have a mini viv for a cali king...
I've never owned a snake before and this would be a first for me, but i was wondering if 2.5'x2'x3' would be a big enough enclosure for one?
Is there any point having it 3' Deep?
Also what else would need to be on the viv, presumably some grate like material over a hole somewhere for ventilation?
Thanks in advance

if you put it on its side, then it would work, but otherwise, it's just not the right demensions. maybe get some thing aboreal, like crested geckos, or a rough green snake

it's not long enough. they don't climb a lot. some never climb in their whole lives. go with something that climbs a lot. it will be much happier then a king snake

You could go for some sort of Aboreal Snake? Not sure whether there's a species that could live in there for life though, I'm new to this snake malarkey myself. How easy is the access to this middle area? You don't want something fast or hard to catch if it's going to be a pain for maintenance.

the ball python i have climbs all the time on the drift wood she has and she is always pushing her head into the very top of the cage so the tall cage would work for them

Fair enough, i was always under the impression they liked climbing...

Time to start looking at lizards and geckos then i suppose :D
mine loves to climb his driftwood. i keep mine in a 24 long x 12 high x 14 wide
