I want to raise some brine shrimp and possibly start breeding them. But first I need to know what it would take to get them to survive. I have the san Francisco bay brand hatchery with the hatch mixes etc. But that doesn't really get them to survive, just be born.

I should also mention I have never set up a saltwater tank so all advice is welcome. Tank size, temperature, food, etc etc. These will be for an occasional treat for some of my smaller freshwater fish.

Crazy :nilly:

Haha good luck. Ive never tried to raise any.

Lol thanks, I figure it will be more of a learning project than an actual success story but I'm willing to try

....i tried and failed miserably....

first i hatch them, then placed them in a 5 gallon tank. Lots of air supply, filter (specialized sponge filter), baby brine shrimp food. All in all it's easy to hatch them....grow them is very very difficult!

You failed? I had like 1.6 million in a critter keeper with just an air stone... I don't think its even a gallon. I literally did nothing but buy already hatched adult brine shrimp throw them in, and they just started to breed on their own.... I don't think I even changed the water out...If all else fails buy the sea monkey kit.

Wait. Are sea monkeys brine shrimp?!

wow two very different experiences.... i would probably be another fail story lol but i just want to give it a shot

Yup. Some entrepreneur saw brine shrimp and had a stroke of capitalist genius.
