Any suggestions on a canister filter brand for my 55, to be used as a biological filter. Currently running 2 HOB 350’s with BIO wheels. Unable to run an AC1100 or Emp. 400 due to space constrictions. Here’s the rub the tank is located on my fireplace hearth, which is low to the ground maybe 10”, by placing the canister behind the tank, I’m only dealing with the actual tank height, 18”. I was considering an XP3, unfortunately they state in the instructions in order to run properly they need a 2 foot head min. on inlet and outlet. My current set up isn’t going to cut it so I’m opening it to the masses, large capacity desired, flow rate > 100 GPH….. Wet /Dry is not an option because of the location of the tank...

Let’s hear your suggestions and set ups if similar…..

I agree. Eheim, second to none. They don't die so plan on leaving any eheim canister filter you get in your will.

Thanks I knew you'd have an answer for me and it's not effected by tube lengths or head head......great! :headbang2 How's your tank coming ? Hopefully we won't lose power this weekend!

Glad to help. If you want to invest more $ you can check out the Pro line. But I like the Classic line best.

 Yeah. Stay warm! I don't even have a generator or anything. But right now, they "only" predict 1/4'' ice ... we'll see.

I have run eheims and fluvals, i like the ehiems better

I have 2 2028's on my 125 planted, i also have a fluval 404 that i just use as a co2 difuser

I also have a 2227 eheim w/d, these are good filters but they have more moving parts and they have to be a certain height below the top of the tank
