I'm in the process of setting up my 1000 gallon system an I plan on running between 9,000 and 18,000 gallon turn over rate per hour. I am curious what type of filtration you are running how many pumps what you using to Polish your water how you have your uv setup in such a high flow system and if the high flow causes issues with sand in tank as well as if filter media is adversely affected by the fast contact time opposed to a slow flow tank

I have a max of 8000 GPH turnover on approximately 900g system. I use 2 pumps that feed through cheap chinese foam pads for fine filtration (changed every other day) into a chamber of a little over 500 pot scrubbies, then into a chamber of 4 cubic feet of K1 prior to exiting the sump where the pumps are that are surrounded by bags of old ceramic media I had laying around).

I would definitely prefer to go with a glass bead system if I wasnt on the cheap side but so far my system is working incredibly well with the K1 compared to any . I currently only have 4 rays in that tank with discs of 10", 14" 17" and 19".

No sand but I am confident that If I had sand it would be pushed around due to the current where the water discharges into the tank.
