an iguana's habitat is supposed to be at 80-100% humidity. i have a hard enough time keeping this in a tank. so my question is how do you guys keep the humidity up in an open enclosure (screen, fence etc.)?

live in a humid enviorment...like hawaii then you dont even need to really mess with humidity...oh but wait hawaii makes everything illegal to own...ok promise last time i hate on my state...i have ne idea other then misting the hell out of the enclosure with a hose and gun thingy on mist/shower or a big spray bottle if indoor enclosure...and let the sun/your heat source warm it up to make it a muggy humid enviorment and repeat when ever your hygrometer says the humidity is dropping...

It's very difficult. I used to use a fogger on my chameleon cage to keep the humidity up, along with misting, but that was in a much smaller enclosure than I assume(hope) you are using.

I never had humidity at 80-100% in my iguana enclosure. That's near impossible in an open wire cage. I sprayed my Iggi twice a day with a mister and I let him soak 2-3 times a week in a large warm tub of water. Green Iguanas live in a variety of tropical/subtropical environments, not all of them are humid. Some have even adapted to live in open dry savannas.

location location location...... you might have to cover the screen if you live in dry climate.

Doesn't tropical mean, warm, wet and humid:confused:

I want an Iggy so bad. The LFS near by has a HUGE Iggy, a big female who is so docile. Her tail is tiger striped and looks amazing. Comes with a big custom cage too. Front and both sides are plexi and the rear is wood with holes drilled in it for ventilation. A big huge manzanita Y branck is in there for basking, it looks really cool. But I ondt have room for the cage, and my mom said no about a thousand times before I even asked.

LOL I'd advise against it anyway. That 'docile female' will turn on you more than likely one day. Mine did and she was dog tame. Plus, they crap for England (and Possibly America too) and my god does it stink.

Have alot of character though.

She's so huge though. Like 4 feet+! When I saw her it was late in the day, about 6pm so maybe thats the reason she seemed so docile. She opened her eyes, nodded at me, then went back to sleep! It was really neat. I'd like to own an iguana, but I prefer Tegus more. Specially red tegus!
