I had a belly crawler for some time and I loved him. My only gripe is that he was kind shy.
Are all pikes like that? I've very interested in keeping a lent. He would have a tank to himself as I'm not a fan of communities.
Or are there species that are less shy than others?

ive had luck keeping two together, both times ive kept lenticulata. really out-going fish they are very interactive and an absolute joy to keep

Thats great. How big a tank did you keep them in? I was thinking a 120 for a solo fish.

Most of the belly bumpers are shy. I think they are smaller species and scared of predation more than other species.

I had experience in keeping 14 tails of atabapo red in 1 350g tank. They are all fine. From there, i split tthem into pairs amd sold them off. Till now they are doing fine as pair without any temperament.

I picked up a wild 7" lent from Snook just a couple weeks ago and it is already my pride and joy. Already recognizes me and comes to greet me whenever I come over. It is in a 55 and will be moving over to a 75 forever home very soon. I was told to keep it solo since they are highly intelligent and vicious to almost everything. But if I ever got into breeding pikes, I would love to try with these guys. I am thinking about breeding some dwarves to get my foot in the door, but we will see. :)
