This guy just came up with this today. Im cleaning tanks today, w/change, like I do every week. The parameters in this 60 gallon tank are 0, except ammonia which was .25 due to a rotten prawn they had stashed under the rocks.
SG .008
He's enjoying a salt bath on the floor right now....oh, now he's back at the surface again. Doesn't look sick. Colors bright. He is hanging around close to the surface. Everyone else is well and accounted for.

Only thing I can think is parasites, I'm behind schedule for routine worming.

Heres some pics. He's the obviously one. I cant recognize20160814_193818.jpg 20160814_193830.jpg 20160814_193832.jpg 20160814_193834.jpg 20160814_193955.jpg 20160814_195224.jpg 20160814_195237 (1).jpg him hes so deformed, but the other one in my face is Niche. See those chompers? Thats what a puffer looks like who's going to see the dentist, right after tank duty.

Cant see pics well... Sure its not just normal puffing? My hairy puffer like to puff pretty regularly in the evenings. When you removed the puffer for a salt bath did you net him and expose him to air or use a bowl or something and keep him in the water?

No, I always use a pyrex cup to move them, and he hasnt left the tank. i just gave them a hunk of marine salt to raise the sg as a remedy , and they like to roll in it as a treat.I went ahead and medicated the tank with General Cure too. If he's got something, chances are it they all have the bug. He went into hiding this time when i went to take pics.
i gotta crash.
Thanks Mr 123, for your reply!
Hopefully he'll be better in the morning.

Its a pretty slow paced web site but the puffer knowledge there is good.

here is my opinion for what its worth...

1. When was he last fed and what did he eat? Coz maybe had a big meal thats not fully digested?

2. Could hes just be a very fat GSP?

3. If hes constipated could try feeding him de-shelled peas, or even putting some epsom salt in the tank to try help purge him a little?

Coz just looking at those pics he just looks like a happy, slightly over-weight puffer... None of the traditional signs of stress such as dark stomach or body color...

So unless hes exhibiting some sign of discomfort he maybe okay???
