I'm talking dwarf or regular sized, not the giant gouramis. I'm wanting to put several together in a tank, preferably males, so I'm wondering which are the best for that. I've heard differing opinions. One person told me he put 12 male gouramis in a tank together (not sure what size) and they were fine. Then I've heard you should only have one male gourami per tank. What do y'all think? And which varieties would be best suited for this? Thanks!

Some people house multiple gouramis per tank, but I say only have one. They seem to be a little nippy and are definitely bullies lol ime
its only when they are in competition of a female that the males will become aggressive, I used to have a mixed group of 8 snakeskins and never had a problem.
my 9" male Giant Gourami is super gentle and wouldn't bother a fly. although he does literally inhale anything that touches the waters surface... dwarf gourami's arent that bad if they have a bigger tank and no females. you see the males all crammed together at the LFS and they do fine.
