Far far away land
I know most tanganyika cichlids are pretty slow growing. What is the expected rate for a group I have that are about 1.25 inches. They are in a spare 125 gallon bare bottom tank. I have a sponger filter in it right now with a koralia power head at the other end of the tank for movement. I feed twice a day small amounts and do two water changes a week. What would be a typical size in 6 months and then maybe a year.

I know the tank is big for a grow out, but The wife wont let me have a ton of small tanks so I took the opportunity to consolidate to some bigger tanks.
two 125s and a 55 sahweet!

These guys will eventually be in with some frontosas when they get bigger in the other 125 with some other stock that i'm still mulling over.

I wouldnt expect them to be much bigger than 2 in withing the next year...calvus especially are slowwww growing.

It kind of depends. I got some small white calvus in April. They were all about an inch long. One seemed to explode in growth then the others caught up with in the last few months. They are about an inch and a half now. The breeder I got them from said yes they are slow growers but if they are happy they will a lot grow faster.
Mine are in a 29 gallon planted with very few tankmates. They get a 20% water change weekly and are fed NLS, mytis shrimp and blood worms.
