I have a 1" Black Calvus in a 55 with a few other 2-3" cichlids. How long can I expect it to take for him to get to it's adult size? I've heard that it can take up to 6 months to get to 1.5", but I can't find any more info above and beyond that.

Thanks in advance for any help...

5 -7 yrs to reach full growth? Man that would seem like an eternity!

What size do they start breeding?

Notoriously slow growers.
Larger ones here are just outrageous here, or I would have a couple. Smaller ones would be expensive food for my hogs.
Great looking fish.

I must have very fast growing comps then... Bought them 8 months ago at just over an inch. Over the 3 inches now!
