Hi, I got myself a pair of wild calvus and noticed that they both had messy spots near their tails. Does anyone know what causes this, any way of preventing this from being passed on to their next generation? The situation looks like the one in the photo below, though it's not my fish (The following photo is from google search).
Thanx!

Pics. would help.

I think he means the spots by the tail are messy like they are not in line like pattern like the rest of the fish - it get's discombobulated at the end. That's what I get from it.. ???

could be from stunted growth, a defect, or an injury. It could also be from not being fully grown.
Could be but I've seen alot of white calvus with this situation and have heard that it is caused by interbreeding?

First tiem I've ever noticed anything like that...interesting.

if that is the case and they are wild caught, there is nothing you can do about interbreeding in that case. Maybe wait and see how the first brood turns out.
Well yeah, I guess that's the only thing I can do.
