Ok I know limited on camera's and SLR camera's. My grandma is giving me my grandfathers Nikon D100 DSLR I guess he just bought it before he ( inserted here long story not going to tell.). So what I want to know is How good of a camera is it and whats it worth? Not that I am going to sell it I just want to know the value of something like this. Thanks..

When it came out 10 years ago or so, it was worth about $5K. It was the cat's meow and the pic resolution was about 3 MP if I'm not mistaken. In very good condition, body only, it's probably worth about $5-600 to the right buyer. Still a very good camera with some nice pro features. Solid as a rock.

i bet your pics will be better then mine...:D

Sorry, I erred in my earlier post. I was thinking of another camera. The technology of the D100 is only 6 years old and the sensor size is 6 MP.

I know a fellow who shoots with one and you could never tell the difference between his and a D200. Excellent camera, even by todays standards.

What really determines the quality of the image is the lens used and the photographer.

Will do Li... But Does the camera take better pictures than say a D40 or D50 with a moderately skilled photographer behind the lens. See my grandfather was a Nature photographer like BIG time Photographer and Oil painting artist. He has about 11 camera's and I saw the Nikon D100 and was wondering well should I buy a D40 kit with a Speed flash 600 I believe or should I use this Nikon. I want to have CLEAR pics like Rallys or Mo's

I would use the D100 and learn from it. It takes more than just having a good camera to produce good pictures. I believe mrLimpet from APF uses one if you want to check out what kind of pics it can produce.

All these cam questions...APF http://www.aquatic-photography.com Has ALL the answers...It is comparable to asking for stocking advice there...lol It is part of the M.A.N. family and Li owns it...The site feels like AC or MFK...Those guys are ITCHING for these questions there...Just thought I would throw that out there...Not that I'm "bothered" or "think these threads do not belong"...I just feel like ALL the help you need is but a click away...
