camera people i NEED help

hey guys, i got a d40 and im confused. can you guys give me the basics i need to know. also how can i take lots of pictures in a short amount of time. i tried following the directions, but no good. i just want to be able to use the camera to its fullest but thats not happenign right now. so if you guys could help me make the thing work right that would be great

i cant reall practice becasue the pics turn out like crap i try to play woth the settings but it doesnt seem to help

Don't take offence to this but, go to the store and pick up D40 for Dummies. It will take you through the camera settings and basics without expecting you to be pro already.
