Ok so do any of you guys have any advice for digital camcorder camera combos any first hand knowlage advice would be appretiated:popcorn:

how much you wanna spend?

less than a grand more than a couple hundred! It will be my first decent camera so i dont want to go crazy. Later maybe could get a little more high end?or is it better to just get a nice camera from the get go?

well for $500-600 you can get a great entry-level DSLR. i have the Nikon D40, which has now been replaced by the D3000. great camera for a first time DSLR owner. Canon also has the equivalent entry level model. just depends which you like best

Thanks J i"m going to go to my local camera shop and check out Nikon and cannon models for the entry leval ones!

nikon d-5000 is the best bang for your buck in my opinon alot like the d70 but has hd quality video its good to get an external flash for taking photos of the fish because you can put the flash above the tank facing down and shoot the photo from the outside of the tank

I use a canon t1i. the rebel line loses value pretty quick so you might be able to find a good deal on them on craigslist.

I would have to agree! Don't have one but best picture quality I have seen this far. Just got my kids photos done with the DSLR and man I am blown away!

Thanks guys for the input!the point and shoot i have just does not cut it!

i dont know much about regular cameras, but i have gotten pretty decent footage of my cichla with a sony vx1000 camcorder
