Here are links to some good deals on rods at Cabela's.
I found these last night and thought they were just a novelty, but after some research, they appear to be pretty decent rods. As you can see, the original price is $130 and now they're down to $50 and $30 (Pink Camo). The company that made these was USA Custom Rods. They introduced these rods back in 2009 and actually won a best in show/best rod of the week at iCast 2009, for whatever reason it seems that the company folded. It looks like they were two guys who worked for other high end rod companies who tried to branch out on their own and break the mold, so to speak. They're graphite rods that are dipped in the liquid camo covering that a lot of places are using for different things these days. All of the reviews that I've read (beyond the Cabela's reviews as well) speak highly of the rod. It might be a bit gaudy for your taste, but it seems like a pretty good quality deal. If it catches fish and holds up, who cares what it looks like? (Yes, I bought a pink one as well)
I personally ordered two this morning, looking forward to getting them in and trying them out. I've been fishing ugly stiks a long time and I'm excited to try something different at a reasonable price. Plus it's another excuse to buy some more reels and there's nothing wrong with that.
Anyhow, I just wanted to pass this along to everyone else here. Once I get them and fish them a bit, I'll post an update/review.
