Hey, y'all, I have another question on Blood Parrot tank mates. Can a blood parrot and a crayfish be in the same tank together, once again, 55 gallons? I'm exploring my options, and I like being creative. I was thinking specifically of a blue or white crayfish, no plain ones.

If crayfish can't go in, can you recommend any inverts or another type of oddball (no Asian species or small tetras/small schooling fish again)?

Thank you again for any help! :D

My blood parrot lives fine with a crayfish in a 75 - as long as the fish is bigger than the crayfish I wouldn’t be too worried.
Tbh that’s the only invert I’d try with one though, anything else is food.

I plan on getting a blood parrot that is much larger than a crayfish, so I think they should be fine. I'm not sure if I will do it though because I have a few catfish I'm keeping and I don't want them to get hurt by a feisty crayfish.

Try to get a female cray if you do - they max smaller and don’t have as large of claws.

They will look just as good. Here’s a female (iirc) electric red I had:

These days I’d just get one of the feeder crays. They aren’t as colorful but still look good, and don’t cost $20 each.

Mine currently lives with assorted loaches no issue, and in the past I’ve had one with my raphael cat. He tried to get it a few times, but wasn’t very successful as the cat was larger and well defended. Also the banded leporinus told me why they aren’t good tankmates with crayfish…
Same story with mbuna and crays.
Once it molts it’s open season.
