Is it possible for 4 inch flower horn to eat a 8in banded knifefish?

The day after I added the flowerhorn I found my Knifefish dead. Looks like something was chewing on it's head and tail. The other fish are 6in and 8in jack Dempsey, 12in lima shovelnose and a 8in 4 lined catfish. I am also thinking that maybe the flowerhorn killed the knifefish and the lima tried to eat it. Should have the knifefish shocked the flowerhorn?

The flowerhorn?

Maybe the s n cat. More likely the Dempsey got it and used the crushing teeth in the back of its throat to grind it / chew it up before spitting it back out.

Knifefish cannot make enough of a shock like the electric eel. Only weak ones to find food/communicate with.

I have had one jack for 10 years and the other one I had for two years. The knifefish for about 8 months. Never had any issues. The Lima has been known to eat a few small peacock bass 2 tinfoil barbs. I guess it could be a coincidence that the knifefish died after adding the flowerhorn.

Thanks zeke.

It also could of died from something else and got messed with after. He was a cool fish even though I only saw him during feeding times. I will like to get another. Will it workout or is it a sign to stay away?

I'd take it as a sign to stay away.it is very possible the flowerhorn killed it

Flow horns are very smart at killing other fish. And most the time don't do well in communities. I blame the flowerhorn

I'd go with FH. Mine killed, dispatched, and completely consumed my irridescent cats.

That was a nice Knife fish. Larger ones especially an Aba Aba would dispatch the entire tank, but IMO they require a tank of at least 300 gallons or larger.
