Can a FRT be to fat for its shell?

I only ask because mine seems fat in terms of its pouching rolls (im talking about its thighs or leg) over its existing shell? :eek3:

obese turtles have alot of pressure on there organs

in some cases the turtle can get so fat they can crack there own shell

what do you feed and how often??

if its a good diet and plenty of room to swim, theres no way it can go obese.

might just be baby fat ;)

Place the turtle on a low protein/low fat diet before it develops shell curl and organ damage. Best bet to get it to the correct weight is to feed it only elodea and jungle vallisneria plants (val is it's natural diet). Don't give it any animal protein until its' weight is back to normal. Ken's veggie sticks, algae wafers, and spirulina sticks can be offered as well.
I feed mine 3 days then, a day of fasting. The fasting is to help purge itheir systems since my turtle's activity levels are less in captivity and, therefore, so is their metabolism.

can i starve my turtle until it eats elodea?

its been in the tank for weeks but she wont touch it, she seems to only like algea wafers....(i thought these were to high in protein?)

ive tried other fruits/vegs but she wont touch them...so my main question is is it safe to strave them into eating healthier?

how long would you hold out????

pics!! it sounds cute but you should probably give it a diet if it is really obese

will do....i will keep ya guys updated!
