As the title says. Got an itch while getting supplies for my bichir tank and the only one I have set up is a 29. Idk if the current is too strong for him or not.

Chances are you could do a community with the Betta as a focal point. Just provide slack water points.

I just want to know if hes okay with an 100W heater and a filter for 30G. I have the filter in the corner and the heater in the opposite corner. Normally I'm good with Bettas but Ive never done a 29 before. Hes gonna move into a 5G in about a week once I get that one cycled

What kind of filter is it? If it's rated for a 30g, it should be fine, however, I've never really had good luck with a HOB with my Bettas. It seemed to cause too much current, but they've always been rated for almost double the tank size. I think those small internal filters work well with bettas as long as the current isn't too strong. Since they like more calm waters, those internal filters don't seem to cause too much current.

Its an aqueon quiet flow 20. Ive been monitoring him and he seems to know where to go for less current. He floats behind where the current is or goes near the heaterc, which I believe is at around 78*

I have a betta in a 29 right now that is running an AC20 and a Whisper 40i internal, and my guy has no problem with the current. Your betta is behind the output of your hob because it is seeking structure near the waters surface for the prupose of cover/shelter/security. Just throw a wide, bushy plastic plant in there and let it float on the surface. Your betta should go right to this "structure"

Okay I threw a plastic plant in there. I hope its not too pointy for him...

Heres some pictures of him. His colors change depending on what light is on him
