I have a 75 gallon with a male RD (5") and a BN Pleco and some random tetras. My lFS just got some Midas in pure white and NICE looking. There are several same size as my RD or a tad bigger showing hump. There are also some smaller ones minus the hump. I really like the way the Midas look with a shorter face kinda like a bulldog. Can these two guys/gals live together in a 75?? I'd love to have both.

Here is my RD

i'm almost positive they can.
red devil/midas hybrids are always around.

Your RD looks very nice!

The only way two can coexist is if you get a male and female, and you luck out and get a pair, which may be a slim chance with these aggressive fish at this size.

Even if you do successfully get a pair, they will outgrow the tank. A 75 is only big enough for 1 fullgrown RD/Midas.

depends on the width of the tank.

my 80 is a 4' x 16" x 2' and he's 11"/16" the width already, and he'll probably hit about 14"

i would eventually upgrade to a 2' x 2' tank eventually.

One or the other, But not both.
You could do a male/female pair in a 125 just fine though.

with enough hiding spots you can get away with it right now but in the long run NO you'll have to up grade i'll go get that solid white midas hands down hard to run across all white midas good luck.post pics if you get it.

very, VERY slim chance that you'd be able to keep both, unless, like others have said, you wind up with a male/female pair which would be very difficult to do. even if you did get a pair, you would very likely need a divider and may wind up needing a bigger tank down the line as well.

bottom line is that you are talking about some very aggressive and territorial fish...75 gallon really isn't a big enough tank to attempt to try and mix them, imo.

:)

Especially being that for a while now your RD has had the tank to himself. Even in tanks as large as 240 gallons (know from personal experience) when a cichlid like a RD is by itself for a moderate length of time the tend to be intolerant of other fish-especially consp. like Midas. I wouldn't do it.
