Can a trimac live in a 55 gallon tank?

Could a trimac cichlid live in a 55 solo it's whole life?

I think it could survive in a 55.... but from what I understand most consider a 75 to be the bare minimum for a solo trimac or a 125 for a pair

not a chance that it could survive its life in a 55. Ur talking about a fish that could reach close to 16 inches if male while females get around 12 inches

It could definitely survive, but it would in no way be thriving. 75 is minimum for a solo Trimac. Keeping a fish that reaches 14" full-grown in a 12" deep tank would be nothing short of cruel.

just a very simple no. lyonsi however which looks very close to trimac could fit much better in a 55 if thats what your limited to.

It's entire life, definately not, a 55 is way too narrow. They are big and powerful swimmers so they need room. They are awsome though, I just love mine. Full of personality and constantly pissed off at the world
