Can anybody ID these Cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the first one appears to be Tropheops type.. perhaps a "macrophthalmus chitimba" male...the second one appears to be Pseudotropheus- "Elongatus chrisumulu" male. This pic below is the Elongatus is full mature color...so my best is that it is in the Pseudontropheus family..

they look decent, instead of the usual zebra hybrids with a few faded yellow lab hybrids and auratus in the tanks.

I kinda was thinking that the bottom was of Tropheops.... "Boadzulu" (Makokola) http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=942

when you look at the fish with your own eyes you can see the yellow throughout the body, plus when I first got it I noticed how orangey-yellow it was. I figure I'll give it a while before I make any decisions.

Same with the top, I guess. They still seem very young.

i would say it is definitly tropheops family... i cannot wait to see how they color up and turn out...let me know.... okay..;)

the second one is either a young male elongatus, or an older non dominant. i am going to say younger. the blue should get darker with age. the stripes get lighter or darker depending on where he ends up in the pecking order. that is how mine is. his stripes were very light until he took over the tank and killed anyone in his way. now his stripes are very dark. make sure he has at least 4 females or he will end up killing them all
