I know the pictures suck but this guy hates the camera and is really fast! It was given to my mom from a friend after a year, my mom passed it to me. I have no clue what it is but it is an algae eater type of fish. My mom claims that it also ate some tiny fish in her community aquarium but I'm not so sure about that. Any info would be greatly appreciated and in the mean while. I'll try to snap some better shots. Thanks

CAE, chinese algea eater. eats algea when small but when they get larger they turn pretty nasty and also decide that fish slime coat is more tasty than algea.

yeah chinese algae eater. they're jerks, shipped mine out, rather have a messy pleco that is nice and does his job, than a jerk who attacks my fish

We just end up buying the wrong fish.lol CAE's aren't really a good choice for most community setups. So disappointing.:shakehead

I have a 55 gal. tank of mostly loaches and botias with 2 of these guys in it; an 8" and a 4.5"; the larger one I've had for years and it was very aggressive when it was just him and a few other fish. Now that the tank is full, it's not noticeably aggressive at all. They each have their own cave and that helps tame the aggression because they're more comfortable.

I got told by some idiots at a pet shop that they'd be really good for my 6ft community tank but after a while at only 4inches they started taking over! At one stage in the 6ft we had our two tiger oscars, a couple of juvenile jags, a juvenile jd, 5 small clown loaches, a black shark&3 of these bastards&they were the most terratorial by far, not letting anyone even the jags into their hiding places&constantly beating each other up 2. In the end i practically pulled my tank apart to get them out but it was worth it before they got any bigger&climbed out or something.. :irked:
