Looks like a turquoise in breeding coloration.

Thank u for the quick reply! :)
I've not heard of the turquoise severum before.. Is this a common severum? I've only been keeping fish 6 months and am still learning.. I usually always do plenty of research before hand but I'd not seen a severum with such beautiful colours!
The pic was taken not long before he and a female rotkeil spawned!

It's a green (by current scientific standards) that's found in Peru. It used to be considered it's own species, Heros appendiculatus. Though I'm not sure I buy into it being a green for several reasons. I would think that the rotkeil and turquoise to be the same species before I'd think a turquoise and green were. But I digress.

I wouldn't raise the fry, since at the moment, it is a hybrid. And getting pure rotkeils is getting to be a huge problem in Europe from what I've read due to crossing with greens.

i would raise the fry it would be cool to see what colors u will get:headbang2

Ok soo from what I can understand.. ( I'm not too bright lol ) it's a form of the green severum or rotkeil?

What would happen if the fry was raised? Would they be infertile? What do u think they would look like?

You get a dull rotkeil without any red from the pics of such crosses I've seen.

Yes, a form of green sev, not a rotkeil (scientificly speaking).

Thank u very much for ur help darth pike! :)
by any chance do u know much about giant gourami's?

Phillykid - the fry hatched tuesday so still early days yet as it's their first spawn! :)

Nope, never had a tank big enough for one ... so never researched much into them.
