Geoghagus brasiliensis?
that's what i bought them as Geophagus Brasiliensis 'red',sorry cookiemonster, forgot to mention that, but there are a lot of fish traded under that name,i was wondering if anyone can pin down exactly what they are...

Either Geo brasiliensis or Geo iporangensis....... thinking the latter.

Some kind of geo's.... beautiful, whatever they are.

my bet is a geo of some sort, and also as headrush for the first couple sec i though they were jewles.

apparently they can grow to 35 cm,i think the 'iporangensis' grows smaller, time will tell guys...
thanks to all that have replied

The dual spot is interesting. I've not seen that on a brasiliensis before.

Iporangensis is quite rare in the hobby, and would be labeled as such. Brasiliensis and sp. "Bahia Red" are much more common.

Yours appear to be the Geo. sp. "Bahia Red" variant.

Here is my former male brasiliensis for comparison.

Note how yours have more of a red hue vs my blue.
