Can anyone ID this cat?

The pictures aren't the greatest but the fish store I was in has terrible lighting. Saw this cute little 2" guy in a corner tank and almost bought him but then remembered the horror stories about monster cats. Wanted to see what kind he was before I buy a fish I can't house for more than a year. So what kind is he? And how big will he/she get?

Mine is not skittish at all. Very active at feeding time and when another fish tries to take his bloodworms he slams them into the gravel! Most are very reclusive during the day and you won't see them much, I've got and been told by various others who have kept them that mine is an oddball. None should be skittish though. They grow fast though, got mine in Feb at 2" and now he's 4"! Adults go anywhere from 6-8".
