They look like some sort of gourami.

In nature many that survive predation are silvery brown, its just that in the aquarium trade, the pink color morph was considered the desirable one to cultivate for commerciality.
I prefer the brown natural morphs myself, and used to see large brown ones in Saigon's fish market years ago, for sale for dinner.
Similar to the natural color morph of Petenia splendida.

Yeah, silvery like that is their REAL color. Hence why they're commonly called "Wild type" It's unfortunate they're so rare in the hobby since they're much more attractive than the pink and hideous deformed balloon strains.
