You cant tell by looking at it. Only way is by knowing where it was collected from. The other is a blood sampling. Most lfs that carry gars will be by default Florida gars. Floridas are most available for purchase.

In my personal experience my Floridas have had a bit wider snouts than spotted, that's usually what I go by.

Well no this does not work. As stated by kno4te the only way is through collection location and blood testing. There is no visual appearance difference
