Hi everyone,
I've been out for while. Last few months have been crazy busy and exciting. And it ended with a great trip to Thailand! Anywho, while I was in Chinatown, Bangkok I purchased this small grilled fish from a street vendor. Quite unassuming but it turned out to be extremely tasty! I'd like to id this fish just out of curiosity. A fishing guide was able to id the fish, but of course it was in thai and I wasn't sure on the pronunciation. Sounded like "bratapieng" or "pratapien"?? I'm sure I just butchered that so my apologies. He also told me it was a freshwater species.

Anyone know what this fish is; local name, common, scientific?

Wicker carp,interesting....Al have you had the dish before?

Nah never have. I don't really like sea food anyway with the exception of shrimp and Calamari

How the heck did you know that then? And apparently we now know what to do with all the unwanted overgrown dithers...lol
