This guy is a real crazy fish... affectionate loving and cute but crazy.. we had to give him his own tank because he never left anybody in the tank alone..rubbed up against them..and it did not mater how big or how small the tank mates were..so i would love to know the exact ID on him.. to learn more about his "different" behavior....

are you sure it's a synodontus? It looks more like an asian type of catfish too me( in this angle). Look on planet catfish at the bagrid family.
and try to get a pic that shows the full catfish.

I know exactly what that is. That is a synodontis frontosus.

I used to have one they are really great fish but you don't see them that often or at least I don't. The only one I ever saw I bought and it was already seven inches.

Unfortunatly there isn't to much info on them or at least I couldn't find any good info. Just bits and pieces.

Mine got to around 10in before I had to get rid of it cause I wasn't sure how mine would be with rays since mine was a bit agressive from being with African cichlids.

Best of luck with it.

Thank you so much for the information... I will look up the name you gave me and do some research.. gosh i appreciate you giving me information.. thank you

ANyone else have one of these..let me know thanks

S. frontosus is a very uncommon import. From what I can tell, picture-wise, the fish in question lacks the maxillary feathering on the ventral side. This leads me to the assumption that the fish is likely s. schall, a more common fish. However, the angle is very awkward and is difficult to utilize as an identification source.
