Can anyone sex my 2 jack dempseys (pics attached)?

What up guys! I have 2 jack dempseys. One of them I'm pretty sure is a male. The other I thought was a female because the gill plate looked kinda bluish, but now the fish is starting to color up even better than the other dempsey. What do you guys think is the sex of my 2 dempseys? Thanks!

The markings on the lower half of the gill plate and notice the shorter anal fin compared to the male above it.
