Can anyone sex these Firemouths?

Hello,

I picked up two Firemouth cichlids at my LFS today. Both are around 2.5" in length. One seems to have slightly better coloration and more pointed dorsal/anal fins, but it is hard to tell. We weren't able to say for sure what the sex of the fish were at the LFS.

Can anyone tell or are they too young? I took two pictures of each.

IMO they are too young.
You could try getting a pic of the vents.
We may be able to help with that.

If your lucky you have a pair but best way to tell gender is too get like 5-8 and way till you get a pair. Identifying firemouth gender can be deceiving based only on looks especially so at this size. I don’t think a picture of the vent will help all that much based on current size. Though if they are roughly the same age and size males tend to have slightly longer anal fins.
